SCHEDULE AN INITIAL CONSULTATION

Are you worried about scheduling an initial consultation? If you are in a situation where you need to talk to an attorney, chances are you already feel terrified as you contemplate losing someone you love, losing your life as you know it, and having to pay someone money on top of it. In working with many clients in this situation, I know how much comfort can come from learning about your rights and what to expect. Knowledge will give you power.

What can I expect at a consultation?

Initial consultations last between 45-90 minutes long. We will meet to discuss your situation and find answers to your questions. I will explain your options and the costs. It is an opportunity to talk and determine whether we are a good fit to work together on your case.

I want you to leave knowing your options, rights, and obligations. The consultation is confidential and you have no obligation to retain me.

Why do I need a consultation?

If you are involved in a family law situation, there are important reasons to consult with a lawyer:

A lot of people worry that they are going to lose their children forever. Other people think they can sole custody of their child and keep the other parent away. I can make sure you are not worrying about or expecting a result that is not going to happen.

Friends and family may not give you realistic expectations or helpful advice because all situations are different. Just because your friend pays $500 per month in child support for two kids, that may be too much or not enough in your case.

How soon do I need to meet with a lawyer?

Usually, the sooner the better. If you are confused and worried, it is probably a good time to talk to someone.

What do I need say, ask, or to bring?

I am going to ask you some general background information about you and your family. I need to know the people in your life, the people involved in the case and the important events in your life that brought you to my office.

If you have already been to court, bring all court-related documents with you.

If you bring information about your income, expenses, assets and debts, I can give you more specific information about what to expect.

If you have questions keeping you up at night, write them down and bring them with you.

 How much will it cost?

My consultations are $300 flat fee. You can pay online prior to your consultation, or when you arrive by cash, check or credit card.
